sweet potatoes for lunch along with British bangers. Yes, I know the brits probably eat their bangers with white potatoes but then – No, just no.
I’m nuking the sweet potatoes, yes, roasted would probably be better but I’m lazy (and I hate to cook). Then I will add the teeny-tiniest bit of butter, to make them easy to mash, tho really they don’t need it. Add a couple of grinds of pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg and you have dessert for a main course. You will note there is no salt.
When I dish them up I will add butter to my husband’s portion because he is a philistine. None on mine thank you.
I hate white potatoes in any form. There is no way in 47 hells that you can make them taste like anything edible or interesting unless you add all sorts of unhealthy crap to them – like great gooey gobs of salt, or butter if you mash them. Even garlic is no help. So -No, just no. (Plus the texture of mashed white potatoes makes me gag much like oatmeal – which is also disgusting.)
My husband has learned to love sweet potatoes (or yams – whatever) because – lots of butter for him plus cinnamon and nutmeg? He’s one happy camper because it tastes like dessert.
Over and out for now.
Sweet potatoes are so much better. I only like white potatoes if they’re very far removed from potato-dom, like McDonalds fries.

Never had a McDonald’s fry in my life…The only places I’ve had french fries, and they were delicious, I’ll give you that, was in the Rock-it Grill and in Fireflies – both small restaurants that fried when ordered. Otherwise – nope I don’t bother with fries…plus I really think it is the salt that give them any flavor…

I’m the opposite, I love potatoes. Mashed potatoes and gravy are my ultimate comfort food. I do like sweet potatoes too but not as much as white potatoes.
I had no clue what a banger was. I had to google it.

I love sweet potatoes/yams – perhaps I can ship my husband off to you. Mashed white potatoes and gravy? His idea of heaven. My idea of ‘Oh hell, no” LOL Then again, one of my ‘comfort’ foods is spaghetti with garlic and oil and it has become one of his too. And you wonder why his family hates me – I turned him into an IBM (Italian By Marriage).

There are lots of things you can do with potatoes. like new potatoes are very nice, they are basically baby potatoes and of course chips. i have come to learn that many places can not make British chips like the brits can. I have to be careful with white potato as it is, sweet potatoes are very nice especially also in chips but saddleback wedges too. SP mash also very nice to boot.
Don’t think l have ever eaten white potatoes with sausages straight though, although as a youngster bangers and mash was a thing, but l have had sweet potato bangers and mash.

Don’t like white potatoes no way. And sweet potatoes make horrible fries – I used to have one as a snack – just nuked and eaten out of the skin – nowadays I want them mashed with cinnamon and nutmeg. End of. LOL

My late mother hated potatoes. I understand your aversion but don’t share it. I do loves me a spud. Still, to each his or her own.

Love baked sweet potato with butter, salt and pepper. Never thought of cinnamon though. Hmm.

Sweet potatoes don’t need salt, in my estimation but then I am super sensitive to salt plus it’s not healthy, for me anyway. But mashed up with cinnamon and nutmeg and a tad of butter? Food Heaven!
