Don’t Know Why this Just Popped Into My Mind…

When I married my husband we didn’t have much of a wedding. I pretty much had no say in anything about it.  I chose my outfit, and I choose my bouquet and I choose my ring…It wasn’t when I wanted or where I wanted or what I wanted. There was no music and dancing. Can you even imagine – me, no music, no dancing.  But my husband and I did talk about it – the music we would choose, if we had the chance.

He chose this as “our” song…

And I chose this…

  1. Good choices. I’ve never heard the one your husband picked but I know your choice well and love that song.

  2. Videos are unavailable on my end.
My husband was on leave from the Marine Corps when we got married. No dress, no bouquet, definitely no music. Justice of the Peace during a raging blizzard with only 3 family members. Not what I dreamed either, but 39 years later here we are.

    1. Click on the white arrow on the bottom left, next to the sound icon or the arrow in the center…For some reason if you click on the “watch on youtube’ if doesn’t play – How odd. My husband’s younger sister arranged and paid for the wedding, I simply wanted to walk across the street to the church and then have a little party in the backyard…we were in Vermont, my husband’s family were all in Boston. His older sister disapproved of my dress, a red coat dress with matching hat and 4-inch heels, my bouquet which was gardenias, and my wedding ring which is very wide and white gold rather than yellow (I don’t wear yellow gold). My cake was half chocolate and half vanilla because the older sister doesn’t like chocolate. Ah, I did get to pick the church denomination – they are Catholic, I am not. I was very thankful to my husband’s younger sister for all she did but it still wasn’t MY wedding…When you get married when you are middle-aged you would think you could have it your way…

      1. I did click on the little arrow. Both of them took me to a Jason Sudekis interview about Ted Lasso… which I’m guessing are not the songs you chose. 🥴
And from the sound of it, you attended your sister in laws wedding. I get that she paid fur it, but still…. the bride should be included in choices.

        1. Really odd about the youtube playback…I should be thankful I got to make some choices, my husband’s younger sister liked me his older sister did not. It was along time ago and now it’s just a matter of remembering facts. I used to post a wedding photo every year and people tend to like my outfit (which older sister was furious about LOL) My husband and I don’t celebrate our anniversary since neither of us remember the day fondly.

              1. Music is so important and always so intricately entwined with memory. I love that you had the conversation so you can always think of him when those songs play.

  3. I hadn’t heard G’s choice of song before but I’ve always liked the one you chose. It’s unfortunate that you didn’t get much say in your own wedding. I don’t think I got much say in mine either but it’s a blur so maybe I did. We decided in May to get married in August (8-8-88) so it was a whirlwind. I was supposed to wait until I graduated college but that was 1991 and I wanted those 8’s!

I haven’t been around since I got sick traveling back from Maui and I still feel like crap but am at least upright. J is sick too as is my dad’s wife, who was here when we got home, and my mom is sick now too. Quite the time we’re having over here!

      1. Me, J and Peggy got Covid. I’ve been negative since Thursday but still feel like death warmed over. J’s still positive as of yesterday but feels alright except for a cough and fatigue. My mom is just really sick. She was delusional Monday and went to urgent care yesterday but no diagnosis. It all sucks but the trip to Maui was worth it!

  4. No, her highest temperature was 99 yesterday. Normal until then. I don’t know what she has but I hope for her sake and ours she gets better soon! She’s a horrible patient.
