I’m sure things will get worse

because that’s what I’m dealing with and it’s something I have no control over. Difficult to be chatty and friendly and thoughtful when life is spinning out of control. Details not forthcoming because it has too much backstory…

How does one distract oneself when 24 hours a day are spent in caretaking and anxiety and worry (wait, is anxiety and worry pretty much the same thing?)

I was in the laundry room waiting for the washer to finish, leaning against the folding table opposite the machines when I noticed something odd in the center of the washer’s glass door. A closer inspection determined it was the reflection of my legs. “Cool!” I thought – I like photos of reflections. So I went back to the apartment and grabbed my phone. Snapped a photo or two and then realized a video of the washer, with the reflection might be fun and then wait – let’s do it in slo-mo mode.

Here it is – and note the reflection in the center of the door…

For some reason watching a video of a washing machine slowly spinning is very soothing yet watching the machine in real time in the laundry room is not soothing at all…

My favorite

photos seem to be reflections. Or – for some reason those scenes are the ones that capture my attention.

If you live in an apartment building, unless you have a corner apartment, you will have windows on only one side of your apartment. Lucky for me my view is of trees and sky and only incidentally, if I look down, the parking lot.

I was looking out the window, on the look-out for the Giant food delivery truck when I was struck by the reflections on this silver car – long distance lens caught this –

The reflection of the building in the rear window, the trees reflected on the roof and then, after I downloaded the photo I noticed trees also reflected on the roof of the car parked to the right of the silver car.

I guess the light was just right but the more closely I looked the more reflections I saw.

I am fascinated by reflections…

Fun with Fotos

This is just so fun –

I walked into my “office” and noticed the light, actually the whole room reflected in the window – so odd, so cool – so I snapped some photos –

What I am seeing in front of me is really behind me. If you look in the lower right corner you will tree branches and a bright light – that is a lighted entry door to the building and they are all outside the window. But what about the curtains? Are they a reflection or the real thing?

I’m not sure. I took another photo and captured the ‘actual’ inside and the reflection – right to left – actual curtains – window – reflection of curtains.

I spent some time making some size adjustments and then walked away from my desk. About a half hour later I came back into the room and there were more cool reflections, naturally I took another photo –

So many layers – On the left the ‘actual’ curtains, then their reflection then my reflection, then the room behind me, then on the extreme right, reflection of the curtains. But wait! What’s that in the upper left? The balconies on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors!

These photos show the inside and the outside at the same time.  Behind me and in front of me – at the same time!  So cool!

Making lemons into limoncello

Today, being Monday, is always a shit day. Monday=laundry=getting up at o’dark thirty. But it got worse –

After posting I checked my blog email account and saw there was a comment from someone I didn’t care to hear from. Someone I have avoided for over 40 years and will do everything in my power to avoid until I die. I deleted the comment and blocked them on WP. Then I went over to FB and deleted the page I had made for the blog, then deleted an account I had in my birth name, then blocked this person from my active FB page.

Then I bought a new domain name, deleted the old domain, gave the blog a new name, changed the header and here I am. And I’m feeling quite pleased. I’ve used my gravatar profile picture as the header but left off the official blog name – which is the name of my beloved cat Miss Frankie. Frankie was one grumpy little cat but smart as a whip – I loved her to pieces and then some. Miss Frankie and I are a lot alike, so why not honor her.

You know I thought something was weird when I noticed that on Nov. 4th my stats showed 139 views. I thought that was some kind of error, then I thought someone was reading through my entire blog. The last post before today was on Nov. 4th and the comment in question was posted on Nov. 6th which I didn’t see until late morning today. Bingo! Those 139 views I’m pretty damn sure were all this particular person who shall not be named. I hope they had fun.

But all this deleting and re-inventing gave me such a spurt of creative energy. I’ve decided to do a photo-a-day on my IG account and take pics of things around my apartment, starting with my bookcases. I’m posting twice in one day here on the blog and my brain is swirling with things I want to do and say and write.

I’ve gone from angry and edgy to bouncy and fun. Also – I will not engage with this person no matter how much my native New York snark bubbles to the surface and begs to be set free. I’ve avoided this person for all these years and I will continue to do. I was tempted to respond but decided to stroll the high road singing in the key of delete.

A foggy day…and that phrase reminds me of a song – as does most everything – and while this is Virginia not London…

“A foggy day in London town Had me low and had me down I viewed the morning with alarm The British museum had lost its charm How long, I wondered, could this thing last? But the age of miracles hadn’t passed For, suddenly, I saw you there And through foggy London town The sun was shining everywhere…”

Miscellaneous Mishegoss…

I don’t shop in brick and mortar stores because I have no easy means to get to them and quite frankly where I live is not exactly a shoppers paradise. I go to one grocery store and then get deliveries from several others because no one store carries all the items I require.

Amazon Prime (pay the annual fee and no delivery charges) was all that and a bag of chips (can we please bring that phrase back?) One stop shopping – back then. Not no more.

Aside from coffee and vitamins/supplements I’m doing my shopping at Target lately. Better prices, fast delivery plus you get these cute emails –

For some reason this graphic always makes me smile. Amazon doesn’t send cute emails, actually Amazon doesn’t send anything at all. Target sends so many emails and updates and delivery notices it can get annoying if it wasn’t for the cute graphic.

We had a whomping big storm last night – thunder and lightning – I grabbed my big camera to capture some video and wouldn’t you know it – battery was out of juice.  Isn’t that always the way. I used the camera on my phone and got some nice stuff – y’all saw it on my IG or FB – so I won’t post any of it here.

But after the storm, the sky! Oh My! I’m going to share just one photo here (see a bunch more on IG) –

Wowzie, right?

After reading Matrix by Lauren Groff I decided to delve into her other books. “Fates and Furies” was the only one my library had available and 72 pages in my attention was flagging. I was going to put it in the DNF category and move on but I dipped back in and fell, once again, under the spell of her gorgeous lush language. I’m really not into the story but the way she uses words and language mesmerizes me.
